Wellbeing

Warracknabeal Secondary College is committed to ensuring every student has a safe and positive learning experience where they are engaged and supported to reach their full potential.  In order to achieve our vision of equipping “every student to be able to choose a life that has meaning,” establishing a safe, inclusive and positive learning culture is a core responsibility of the school.  By focusing on our school values of respect, resilience, and excellence, we are committed to developing the whole student to have the skills, character and mindset to choose a fully-engaged pathway.

Our staff are committed to forming strong and positive relationships with students and families in supporting the education and wellbeing of all of our students.  Staff regularly undertake professional development in matters of wellbeing, and are supported by the Leadership Team.

Referrals can be made to School Support Services for external support, this is organised through the Student Engagement Leader. These organisations include Head Space, DET Support Services, Uniting Wimmera, and others as depending on the need.

Wellbeing Hub

The Wellbeing Hub is a space for students to prepare/heat their lunches and is open for the first half of each lunch time. The Hub is also used to provide a Breakfast Program for students before school. The Hub includes equipment for food preparation, dish washing facilities and furniture.

School-Wide Positive Behaviour (SWPB)

SWPB is an initiative recently introduced to WSC to assist us to improve social, emotional, behavioural and academic outcomes for children and young people. Students and Staff have come together to develop an agreed set of expected behaviours in classrooms/buildings and within the school environment.
